Why Choose EzyDog Rope Dog Leads?
Frequently Asked Questions
Does climbing rope cause rope burn?
No. Rope burn happens when a thin, rough lead runs through a closed hand under force. Our climbing rope is round, tight-woven, and smooth, so it slides against the palm rather than cutting into it. Flat nylon webbing and thin cord are far more likely to burn than a proper climbing rope lead.
What is climbing rope and why use it for a dog lead?
Climbing rope is built to hold a falling human without snapping or stretching. That same tight-weave construction makes it ideal for a dog lead: it absorbs a sudden lunge without deforming, holds its shape after years of use, and stays smooth in the hand rather than fraying into rough fibres.
Which rope lead is best for the beach?
The Marine Lead. It uses a marine-grade sailing snap clip that will not rust or jam when exposed to salt water and sand. Standard clips corrode over a season of coastal walks. This one does not.
Are these leads strong enough for large dogs?
Yes. The 9mm climbing rope in our standard range is rated for large, powerful breeds. It will not stretch or fray under a sustained pull. Our rope leads are sized for medium, large, and XL dogs.
What thickness rope lead should I choose: 6mm or 9mm?
The 9mm is the standard choice for medium to XL dogs and strong pullers, giving you more to grip and more strength in the rope. The 6mm is lighter in the hand and suits dogs that walk calmly on a loose lead. Both use the same climbing rope construction.
How do I clean a rope lead?
Rinse off mud or salt water after a walk and hang it to dry. For a deeper clean, hand wash with mild soap. Do not machine wash or tumble dry, as heat can weaken the rope fibres over time.
Can I use a rope lead with a harness?
Yes. The Summit Lead uses a standard clip that attaches to the front or back D-ring of any EzyDog harness. Rope leads pair well with harnesses because the smooth grip stays comfortable even when a dog pulls against a front-clip point.
How long do rope dog leads last?
Climbing rope holds up far longer than nylon webbing under repeated use, and it does not go brittle in cold or heavy in wet weather. Every EzyDog rope lead is covered by a 1-Year Warranty against manufacturing defects.
What is the difference between the Summit and the Luca lead?
The Summit Lead is a standard rope dog lead with a clip, designed to attach to a collar or harness. The Luca Lead is a slip rope dog lead that functions as a collar and lead in one.
Do you offer a warranty and fast delivery?
Yes, every rope dog lead we sell is backed by a 1-Year Warranty and fast delivery against any manufacturing defects, giving you peace of mind on every hike or beach trip.
